Artist's Statement
I should say that a beginning place for understanding my pictures is as appropriation. My images come to me from the outside. Photography is a way to project the image of people in a recognizable and remembered context. The painting is to render the image memorable. We are all affected by other artists' work. We all look, compare, digest and record impressions and try to refine somewhat that others can do that too.
